Bae Gives Back Helps OC Animal Care’s Shelter Pets!

Here at OC Animal Care, we are fortunate enough to receive so many great donations from the public and our partners. Bae Gives Back works to not only supply the public and their pets with dog supplies, but they also make a donation to our shelter with each purchase as well! Bae Gives Back thought of this wonderful idea after adopting one of our Shih Tzu’s, Teddy, from our previous location in Orange. They noticed Teddy looked chilly in his kennel and though he, and all of the other dogs, would benefit from having nice, warm blankets, so Bae Gives Back was born! Thanks to programs like Bae Gives Back, OC Animal Care is provided with fabulous donations that the staff and animals are incredibly thankful for.

Amazon Treasure Truck Donates to our Shelter Pets!

Most people look forward to Friday because the weekend, but in OC Animal Care’s case, it was the excitement of the Amazon Treasure Truck coming by! Although the Amazon Treasure Truck usually sells featured products, this special stop was to make a donation. Amazon partnered with the Purina Company and they had 1,500 cans of wet cat food, 250 cans of wet dog food, and 100 bags of treats, all of which they delivered to OC Animal Care. This donation is extremely appreciated by our staff and of course, the animals! Thank you to the Amazon Treasure Truck for recognizing the work being done at OC Animal Shelter and for a great way to start Friday! If you haven’t already, please check out the shelter’s Amazon wish list at http://a.co/b7s2NTt.

Officer Natalizio Helps Baby Hawk!

On Friday May 25, some residents reported a sick or injured baby owl on a path in the neighborhood. The path was filled with trees and adult birds hiding among them. The reporting party was advised it was most likely a healthy fledgling and to leave it be, however, an officer would be sent out to double check. Officer Natalizio reported to the location and once finding the bird, found it to be a baby raptor, possibly a hawk, not a baby owl.To be 100% sure if it was healthy and able to be left alone, Officer Natalizio took it to a doctor for further examination. The baby raptor was determined to be healthy and was returned to the wild near where it was found off the ground in a box. Thank you Officer Natalizio for your thoroughness and to the residents as well! We are thankful for our team and people in the community who care for animals as much as we do!

Animals for Armed Forces was a Huge Success!

OC Animal Care had a special adoption event honoring and thanking our service men and women on Memorial Day weekend. On May 25-27, anyone who currently served or was serving in the military, as well as their family members, were given the chance to adopt free of charge, not including the cost of licensing! A total of 21 furry friends found loving home with military families. OC Animal Care is grateful to have the opportunity to thank the people who protect our country by offering free adoptions for animals that will provide love and comfort. Special thank you to Animals for Armed Forces for sponsoring this adoption event.

Amazing Kitten Rescue!

You never know when you are going to get stuck in a tight situation, but you always mange to somehow get out. Sometimes you are able to get out by yourself and sometimes you need help from others like your family or friends. This doesn’t just apply to humans though; it applies to our furry friends too. On Tuesday May 15 a small kitten found himself in a tight situation-literally; he was wedged between a cinderblock wall and shed. OC Animal Care Officer Holliday responded to situation along with Anaheim Fire Captain Ryan Lazar, Engineer Brent Hirst and Fire Fighter Dave Loya. To help the kitten, the team was cut access holes in the shed so that the kitten could have more room and so that Officer Holliday cold pull it out. Thanks to this team of heroes, the kitten was saved and brought to OC Animal Care. Thank you to Officer Holliday and to Anaheim Fire for helping to save the kitten from a tight situation. We have all been there and it is always amazing to have someone there to help you out like they did with the kitten.

62 Adoptions During Spring Fling!

Spring Fling was the first free adoption event at the new OC Animal Care facility in Tustin. On April 28, 2018 people lined up outside the doors waiting to be let in at 11:00 am to start adopting their new best friend! Doors were open from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm for people to have meet and greets and adopt any of the available animals. Banners and balloons decorated walkways, buildings and rooms. Outside where people picked up their dogs there was a table of brand new collars which were donated so that people could leave with one for their new pets. There were also some props for people to use to take a quick picture with their dog they adopted before they left to commemorate their new happy beginning together. As people left they could also buy some sweet treats at the bake sale table where people donated delicious baked goods for the shelter. By the end of the day there was a total of 62 adoptions. To be exact there were 20 dogs, 29 cats, 3 rabbits, and 10 other animals who found their forever homes! The event was filled with smiles, some special memories and changed lives. Although the event is over now, OC Animal Care can’t wait to see more people at future events. Follow our social media platforms or check out website for future events so that you can enjoy the fun or find your perfect pal!
