Now is the perfect time to bring home a new furry friend! Thanks to the generous donation from Supervisor Bartlett, all adoption fees will be waived throughout the month of November. Sponsorship includes waived adoption fee, vaccination, a certificate for free vet exam, antiparasitic treatment, spay/neuter, microchip and a bag of pet food (while supplies last).

To expand outreach and encourage shelter adoptions, OC Animal Care launched Pooches on the Patio and added it to the shelter’s list of regular programming to help get pets into their forever homes. Across the nation, shelters are seeing an overwhelming increase in animals, including Orange County. OC Animal Care is currently operating over capacity, which has created a critical situation for the animals and one that can’t be fixed without the community’s help.
In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog month, OC Animal Care will continue to waive the adoption fees for all animals through October 31, 2022. Those who have been on the fence about adopting a pet are now in a great position to fall in love with their new best friend! Each adopted animal comes with a microchip, vaccinations, spay or neutering, and an anti-parasite treatment. Waived adoption fees do not include licensing fees or puppies six months of age or younger. With over 400 adoption visits available per week, potential adopters can schedule an adoption appointment today by calling (714) 935-6848. OC Animal Care will be closed on Friday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Staff will still be available to take in ill, injured/lost pets, and emergency calls for service as well as on-site to provide daily care, cleaning, and feeding for the animals at the shelter. If you need assistance, please call (714) 259-1122 and leave a message. Staff will be monitoring the line and respond as soon as possible. Regular operating hours will resume on Saturday, November 12.
Effective Wednesday, November 9, at 6 a.m., all evacuation orders will be lifted for Silverado Canyon, Williams Canyon and Modjeska Canyon in the Bond Fire burn area. Road closures will be lifted for all roadways in the Canyons at 6 a.m.

Orange County is subject to heavy rainfall this time of year which could lead to potential flooding and debris flow near burn scar areas. OC Animal Care is urging residents located in the Bond Fire burn scar areas to implement and activate their personal plan to get their pets out safely and early. Prepare now to ensure you and your pets are safe by following these steps:
Have a plan – know where your pets can go and how they’ll get there
Pack their bags – have your pet's supplies packed and ready to go
Don’t delay – Large animal owners should move their pets prior to the rain so roads are clear

November’s Volunteers of the Month: Tim and Ann Gribben!
OC Animal Care is very happy to announce that our Volunteers of the Month are Groomer Extraordinaires Tim and Ann Gribben! They returned to volunteering post-Covid and are setting the Grooming Room on fire! Many people may not realize how important bathing and grooming are to getting our shelter pets adopted. People want to be able to picture the shelter dog in their homes. Having a clean and fluffy appearance goes a very long way. Ann and Tim bring 30 years of professional dog grooming to OCAC and we are so grateful for their service!
