On Friday May 25, some residents reported a sick or injured baby owl on a path in the neighborhood. The path was filled with trees and adult birds hiding among them. The reporting party was advised it was most likely a healthy fledgling and to leave it be, however, an officer would be sent out to double check. Officer Natalizio reported to the location and once finding the bird, found it to be a baby raptor, possibly a hawk, not a baby owl.To be 100% sure if it was healthy and able to be left alone, Officer Natalizio took it to a doctor for further examination. The baby raptor was determined to be healthy and was returned to the wild near where it was found off the ground in a box. Thank you Officer Natalizio for your thoroughness and to the residents as well! We are thankful for our team and people in the community who care for animals as much as we do!
