Boss - "A Great Companion"
Animal Care Success Stories

My husband’s much loved 10 year old dog passed away last year and I have never owned a dog. We were originally all set on a small dog a pug or a Boston terrier andphoto: Boss the dog on the floor ended up falling in love with a 2yr old black chowchow. When we visited the animal shelter he was sat quietly in his cage, in the adopt today section, in contrast to the barking all around him. We asked to meet him and he was brought into an outdoor room. He had no interest in us what so ever and was curiously sniffing every part of the room; he finally realized there were two strangers in the room and allowed us to pet him. He sat too when asked which was reassuring. Our minds were made up instantly and we adopted him. He had to be neutered and have his shots so we spent the weekend wondering when he would be ready to be picked up and preparing our home.

When we picked him up, he was raring to go and I began to realize how strong he was! I had watched the Training your dog DVD twice and umpteen episodes of Dog Whisperer, Alpha male I thought. In the car he lay on my lap and was very calm. We named him Hugo Boss, Boss for short. He was ill for the first month which was a worrying time and a lot of nose wiping, but we finally got the right course ophoto: Boss the dog on the grassf antibiotics and he bounced back to health.

Boss goes everywhere with me and is a great companion, he gets complements wherever we go. People are constantly surprised that he is a pound dog and is so friendly. We feel blessed having him and his boundless energy is keeping me fit with his several walks a day. I cycle with him as the pace suits him better, at the dog park he made new friends and was so exhausted he could barely walk to the car. I have no doubt he had the best time and we were both happy that he made some friends. We look forward to more adventures with our great dog.

Thank you for bringing him into our lives and for the great work that you do at the shelter..
