Grisley & Bosley - “Wonderful
animals”
Animal Care Success Stories
In 2000, I was ready to adopt a new dog and I knew I'd
find my new friend at the Orange County shelter—so many nice dogs to choose from!
I found the one for me and, oddly enough, my boyfriend picked him without knowing
which one I'd selected on the website the night before! The 5-month old pup, black,
grungy, and matted from the lack of love, selected us. We named him
“Grizzly” due to his large size and bear-like walk..
Well, Grizzly has been the love of our lives for
seven years—healthy, happy and a unique, funny dog who loves others. Yet is 95 pounds
and afraid of every kitty he meets. He adores neighborhood kids and they love him, as
he follows the, mesmerized by their actions. Grizzly got a new brother, a 4-year old
Australian Shepherd/Rottweiler mix in 2003, whom I adored and cherished. I adopted him
from the shelter also when I had an abundance of love to give him, too. Bosley was
neglected prior to life with us, but that loving boy blossomed and lived to just give
and receive love. Bosley loved friends, playing ball, loved bones, the car (went everywhere
with Griz and me), and had an exuberance for life that wouldn't
quit.
He was the most gentle, loving, happy as can be, each moment
a new adventure … a dog to meet and play with, a human to give love to, a tree to sniff, life
was grand. Boz slept upside down, belly up, feet out, comfy as can be, knowing he was loved.
He and Griz would play together … 'til sadly, Bosley got a cancerous tumor by his heart which
ended his jubilant, jolly spirit and life in May 2007. Life isn't the same without our beloved
Bosley, we miss him so. But Grizzly is a joy to be with and comforts me when I think of our
buddy Bosley, in heaven, running free, no leash!
I'm forever grateful to the OC Shelter for rescuing my boys off
the streets as the sad, lonely, lost strays they were. There's no greater joy in being loved
by these wonderful animals.
