Each month, OC Animal Care volunteers and staff members nominate an outstanding member of our volunteer team to receive recognition as the Volunteer of the Month! These volunteers are nominated for their positive attitude, outstanding service, and proven ability to go above and beyond. Serving as an excellent example to their peers, the Volunteer of the Month is truly an asset to the OC Animal Care team!
Stacey Miller has been with us for 8 years at OC Animal Care. In her long years of service she has contributed over 665 hours of service and more than 560 days of fostering both puppies and kittens in her home. Stacey is one of our most prolific trainers of new volunteers, providing them with the skills and know how to successfully socialize our adoptable dogs. Stacey has a unique talent with our ‘big dogs’ and is always at every adoption event on or off site assisting them in finding forever homes. While Stacey is working tirelessly with our big dogs, she also makes it a point to take on the massive task of running our Photos with Santa Booth each year. Stacey took the lead this year on all of our December events and was incredibly helpful this entire month in working with new volunteers at the booth and helping us stay organized week after week. We would like to express all of our gratitude to Stacey for her tireless work promoting our shelter dogs, her enthusiasm and energy at our special events and her continued service to our shelter pets.
Annual OC Animal Care & OC Parks Volunteer Recognition Luncheon
In an effort to give back and show thanks to our fabulous volunteers, OC Animal Care and OC Parks host an appreciation luncheon at Irvine Park. All of our active volunteers are welcomed to this event where they are treated to free admission to the OC Zoo, free train rides, free BBQ lunch, and a small gift. Dozens of volunteers are recognized by the President of the United States with the Presidential Service Award for their copious hours of service.

Spirit of Volunteerism Awards
Each Spring, the OneOC organization welcomes organizations throughout Southern California to nominate a few special volunteers from each of their programs to recognize at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards Luncheon. Hundreds of honored volunteers come together at the Disneyland Hotel and enjoy presentations acknowledging each of them for their exceptional work. OC Animal Care selects 5 of our best volunteers to attend this ceremony each year, as their service has helped to place numerous animals into loving homes.
