Celebrating Our Volunteers

Volunteer of the Month

Each month, OC Animal Care volunteers and staff members nominate an outstanding member of our volunteer team to receive recognition as the Volunteer of the Month! These volunteers are nominated for their positive attitude, outstanding service, and proven ability to go above and beyond. Serving as an excellent example to their peers, the Volunteer of the Month is truly an asset to the OC Animal Care team!

Sue has been with us for 3 years now at OC Animal Care and in that time has donated more than 440 hours of service and fostered more than 590 days. In that time she has fostered and helped 92 cats and kittens find their furever homes. Sue acts as a promoter of all of our shelter kitties and works as a tireless liaison between our local rescue groups and the shelter. Sue photographs our available cats and kittens, promotes them on special event days and helps community members find the perfect match when they come to adopt. Sue also works as a networker online, showing off her excellent photography and collage skills in promoting needy cats and kittens in our shelter to outside rescue groups and adoption partners. Thank you Sue for everything you do for OC Animal Care! You’re the purrrrrfect match for our cats and kittens!

Annual OC Animal Care & OC Parks Volunteer Recognition Luncheon

In an effort to give back and show thanks to our fabulous volunteers, OC Animal Care and OC Parks host an appreciation luncheon at Irvine Park. All of our active volunteers are welcomed to this event where they are treated to free admission to the OC Zoo, free train rides, free BBQ lunch, and a small gift. Dozens of volunteers are recognized by the President of the United States with the Presidential Service Award  for their copious hours of service.

Spirit of Volunteerism Awards

Each Spring, the OneOC organization welcomes organizations throughout Southern California to nominate a few special volunteers from each of their programs to recognize at the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards Luncheon. Hundreds of honored volunteers come together at the Disneyland Hotel and enjoy presentations acknowledging each of them for their exceptional work. OC Animal Care selects 5 of our best volunteers to attend this ceremony each year, as their service has helped to place numerous animals into loving homes.
